Spring in the South was born in 1980 as an East Coast exchange practice and has since been held by the Chapel Hill and Duke Shotokan Dojos every year. It typically takes place during a weekend in late April, and usually consists of 3 practices, starting Saturday morning and ending Sunday around noon, with a social gathering around a banquet dinner on the Saturday evening. Each Spring in the South event is led by a senior SKA member that changes from one year to the next, providing a unique opportunity to train with seniors with whom one normally does not get to practice.
Registering for and attending Spring in the South is a privilege available to current SKA members of all ranks.
