When participating in the virtual dojo practices we are running on Zoom during the pandemic, please observe the following rules and notes.
- Be on time, get connected and set up in advance. The host “opens” the virtual dojo 15-20 minutes in advance. Once practice starts there is likely no troubleshooting support.
- Practices are 90 minutes and include warm-up.
- To minimize potential issues with feedback loops and background noise, everyone is muted by default when joining. You can unmute yourself if you have no or low background noise. If unsure, remember it is more important that you and everyone else can hear and see the leader than it is that they can hear you.
- Pin the video feed of the leader so it stays as the “focus” feed regardless of noise, kiai, etc. coming from other participants. Click on the 3 dots that appear in the upper right corner of the leader’s video feed, then click on “Pin Video” in the menu that opens, as in this screenshot. On a phone or tablet, try double-tapping the video to be pinned, or the name in the corner of the video.
